Join the Board of Australia’s leading disability service provider
The organisation
Aruma is a leading Australian for-purpose, values-based organisation that supports people with a disability to live a great life – the life they want, the life they choose.
Operating throughout Eastern Australia, Aruma supports over 5,300 people with a disability, employs nearly 6000 staff, and has annual turnover of $486m (FY20) and net assets of $114m. Following the merger between Tipping Foundation and VISTA, and House with No Steps in late 2017, Aruma came into being as a unified brand in 2019.
Aruma is experiencing a sustained period of change and transformation, as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), social and technological changes reshape the way people with a disability are supported and included in Australian society.
Since its launch in 2013 and full roll-out in 2016, the NDIS has heralded unprecedented changes in the disability services sector, leading to the disaggregation of the support services value chain, the launch of innovative self-directed models of support and new competitors with new business models entering the market. In addition, technology advances, social reforms and platform business models have also contributed to a rapidly evolving new “disability market”.
The role
Aruma’s Board are all champions for people with a disability and they are now looking to recruit two additional non-executive directors ideally, with a lived experience of disability. The successful candidates will be strategic and innovative leaders with AICD accreditation and significant board experience. They will have knowledge of large, complex environments and experience in technology enabled transformation within them. They will be commercially savvy with excellent communication skills and be comfortable navigating marketing and public relations landscapes.
