Apply your exceptional marketing and fundraising leadership skills to positively impact the lives of young people living with cancer

  • Leadership opportunity in a respected iconic Australian charity
  • Leverage a strong brand and track record of impact
  • Build and lead a professional high-performance team

The organisation

Founded in 1985, Canteen is renowned as one of Australia’s most respected non-profit organisations offering vital support to young people aged 12-25 dealing with cancer, whether in their own lives or within their families. Through a range of services, including educational resources, peer support groups, psychological aid, recreational activities, and leadership opportunities, Canteen equips young people with the tools to navigate the emotional, physical, and practical complexities of cancer.  Canteen’s Youth Cancer Services initiative in partnership with state health providers is internationally recognised as setting a benchmark for treatment and support of young patients. Canteen’s mission transcends support—it is a dynamic force empowering young people to develop the emotional strength they need to deal with cancer.

Canteen is at an exciting time in its evolution and has taken a strategic decision to re-integrate their marketing and fundraising functions.  This synergistic approach will enable the organisation to effectively engage stakeholders and secure crucial resources for its mission.

The role

This role is integral to the organisation’s growth, impact, and sustainability. The ED-MF will provide direction and strategic oversight of marketing and fundraising initiatives which encompass integrated marketing strategies, donor management, and partnership development. Taking responsibility for all aspects of people management of the marketing and fundraising team, the role will ensure effective communication, showcasing Canteen’s impact on young people and families, as well as promote the organisation’s advocacy efforts in cancer and youth-related domains for strategic change. The role also oversees the collection and analysis of marketing and fundraising metrics to gauge effectiveness and pivot strategies as needed.

The successful candidate will come from a solid marketing background. They’ll have proven leadership experience, demonstrated success in developing and executing innovative marketing and fundraising strategies, and a track record in driving transformational change across an organisation. Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business Administration or a related field are essential.  Importantly, the person who comes into this role will have a strong cultural alignment to Canteen’s purpose and values.
