Established in the UK in 2011, Good Things Foundation recently launched in Australia to ensure everyone benefits from digital technology, particularly older Australians. Good Things Foundation Australia is a registered Australian charity that supports digitally and socially excluded people to improve their lives and is the perfect union of technology and community support. In less than two years, this newly established Australian has built a network of over 2000 community partners across Australia and delivers a range of important initiatives to improve equality.
With the support of the Australian Federal Government, a new National Director and an exceptional UK based team and Australian Board, Good Things Foundation Australia is entering an exciting time. As part of this growth trajectory, the organisation is looking for a Chair, experienced in scaling up organisations at pace and building new revenue streams, to lead the Australian Board, help build its presence, culture and outcomes in Australia and drive its continued success.
As Chair, you will have the opportunity to develop and direct a global strategy, and work with the Group CEO, National Director for Australia and current stakeholders to deepen the networks and develop, collaboratively, the strategic direction of the organisation. You will also be responsible for ensuring the Board is clear on its purpose and is working collegiately and cohesively. Using your exemplary leadership skills, you will work with and support the Group CEO and the organisation’s National Director to oversee strategic performance, financial position and deliver impact at scale, and ensure board members are appropriately informed and involved.
You will have demonstrated knowledge of at least one of the following sectors: technology, policy, business development, philanthropy, and/or social inclusion. You are committed to improving societal outcomes in the digital space. Importantly, you will have strong and relevant networks with business, government and community leaders enabling you to influence on behalf of Good Things Foundation. You will be an excellent communicator, innovative and strategic in your approach and highly skilled in managing a variety of stakeholder relationships.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with an established Group board, and a developing Australian board, to deliver significant community outcomes.
It is estimated that the role of the Chair may take approximately two hours per week, as well as attendance at quarterly board and other international meetings, and will involve some antisocial working, and some national and international travel. Board members are not remunerated but are able to claim reasonable travel expenses in attending meetings.
To apply, you MUST submit a CV and covering letter outlining why you are interested in representing Good Things Foundation and how your skills and experience align to this opportunity.
Applications closed on Wednesday 3 April 2019.
