St George Community Housing (SGCH) is a Tier 1 provider under the National Regulatory System for Community Housing with a vision to provide great places for everyone. SGCH develops and manages sustainable, safe and affordable homes which in turn create vibrant, inclusive communities. With 35 years’ experience, SGCH currently provides homes for around 11,500 people in over 6,700 properties across the Sydney metropolitan region. What sets SGCH apart, is the continual commitment to commercial strategy and practice. This has allowed the organisation to flourish, expand and reach more customers in need of housing assistance, whilst maintaining their values of innovation, support, accountability, respect and integrity.

2020 was a productive year for SGCH, despite the disruptions from COVID-19. Today the organisation has annual revenues over $100 million, over $3.1 billion of property under management and ambitious goals for the development of 1,000 homes.

Following a restructure of  the Executive Leadership Team, the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer has been created.

A Chief Operating Officer is sought who brings strong commercial nous and practical experience, having managed multiple functions. They will have a proven ability to manage a team through a period of strategic change and bring that team on a journey whilst translating strategy into clear operational goals. Ideally the candidate will have experience managing projects through technological advancements and will provide sound and strategic advice on the way technology is harnessed across the organisation. They will bring a high level of emotional intelligence to the role and have a grasp of Human Resource policies and procedures.

  • Strong commitment to the purpose and values of SGCH
  • Understanding of a profit for purpose business environment and strong commercial acumen
  • Substantial people and change leadership experience
  • Extensive experience integrating strategies across different disciplines such as people and culture, technology and communications to deliver whole of business outcomes
  • Experience leading or strong understanding of customer centric transformations and/or programmes of work
  • Experience in business planning, project planning and governance, and change implementation
  • Experience leading with successful delivery of complex, integrated change initiatives and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong networks and influence across teams
