- Shape vision and priorities for the Centre for Inclusive Employment
- Provide strategic advice on plans, risks, and key outcomes
- Contribute expertise and/or lived experience in employment
The organisation
The Centre for Inclusive Employment is a national initiative established through a Commonwealth Government grant. The overarching responsibility for the Centre for Inclusive Employment is held by Swinburne University of Technology. An Advisory Committee made up of consortium members and independent members with lived experience of disability will guide the Centre’s work program. The Centre builds and shares evidence of “what works”, delivers training and resources for employment service providers and employers, and maintains a central online hub of research, tools, and best practice. Working closely with people with lived experience, providers, researchers, and government, the Centre for Inclusive Employment drives innovation and collaboration across the employment ecosystem to create lasting systemic change and ensure more people with disability can access meaningful, sustainable work.
The role
As a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Centre for Inclusive Employment, you will contribute to shaping the Centre’s vision and strategy, ensuring its work aligns with the Commonwealth Grant and Department of Social Services requirements. Committee members provide advice on strategy, priorities, and evaluation frameworks, help confirm annual work plans, and monitor goals, outcomes, and risks. Members actively participate in quarterly meetings, offering input on research, evidence translation, and practical solutions that improve employment opportunities for people with disability. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders to promote inclusion, guide best practice, and support meaningful outcomes across the disability employment ecosystem.
To be successful in this role you will bring lived experience of disability as well as expertise and/or experience with disability employment. Strong analytical, strategic thinking and collaborative skills are essential, as members must engage across sectors, provide balanced input and manage potential conflicts of interest. Experience in governance, stakeholder engagement, and working within complex systems is highly valued. Members are expected to uphold principles of equity, integrity, inclusion, and accountability and to participate in training (such as Voice at the Table) to ensure discussions and decision-making processes remain accessible, inclusive, and impactful.
