The organisation
The organisationThe Public Education Foundation (PEF) is a for-purpose organisation [with national scope] based in New South Wales. It was established in 2007 to provide life-changing scholarships for students, teachers, and principals in the public education system. It focuses on removing barriers to achievement caused by social and economic disadvantages while celebrating excellence in public education. PEF also supports professional development for educators and aims to enhance the reputation of public education through advocacy. Funded through grants, donations, and investments, the Foundation manages numerous scholarships annually and organises events to celebrate its scholars’ achievements. Its mission is to identify and support potential and excellence while advocating for a high-quality, respected public education system.
The role
PEF is looking for a senior executive with experience in the for-purpose sector, who brings a solid commitment to – and passion for – public education.
Reporting to the board, the next CEO will bring a strategic mindset and financial acumen, and will build and encourage a supportive team culture. They will be an authentic people leader with a track record in stakeholder management and a demonstrated flair for both written and spoken communication. Importantly, this leader will bring the tact and nous required to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels; this includes the complexities within government and major donor organisations, as well as teachers, students and volunteers.
Previous experience within or dealing with government is essential, as is experience in reporting to a board. Experience within education would be looked upon favourably but is not a necessity.
