NED role (with remuneration)
Sydney or Melbourne
Bank First, originally known as Victoria Teachers Mutual Bank, is a member-owned bank established to serve the financial needs of educators. Over the years, it has expanded its services to cater to healthcare professionals and their families, while maintaining its focus on supporting people who dedicate their lives to helping others. As a customer-owned bank, Bank First prioritises its members’ needs rather than external shareholders, reinvesting profits into better products, services, and community initiatives.
The bank offers a range of financial products, including home loans, savings accounts, insurance, and investment options, with a mission centred on providing exceptional service and financial solutions tailored to its members’ unique professions and lifestyles. Bank First is committed to ethical banking and fostering a positive social impact, reflected in its community programs and support for initiatives that promote education and healthcare sectors in Australia.
Bank First is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Non-Executive Director (NED) to complement its Board, with a focus on risk management and strategic oversight. In this role, you will collaborate with other Non-Executive Directors to provide strong governance, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and contribute to the organisation’s long-term strategy. Key responsibilities include cultivating a positive governance culture, employing and supporting the CEO, and ensuring processes are in place to safeguard Bank First’s resources, reputation, and overall operational quality.
As a Non-Executive Director, you will play a critical role in overseeing the Risk Management Framework, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding strategic risk discussions to enable business growth. You will also contribute to the bank’s operational resilience and IT security frameworks, ensuring a strong defense against potential risks. With a focus on strategic leadership, you will foster a risk-aware culture that drives innovation and supports the broader objectives of the organisation.
