The organisation

Established in 1992, Coast Shelter on the NSW Central Coast is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and intergenerational despair and disadvantage by providing comprehensive support to those facing homelessness and domestic violence.  Providing vital and essential services to the community which include emergency accommodation, transitional housing, counselling, advocacy, and access to essential resources, all aimed at empowering individuals and families to secure and maintain safe housing.

Recognising the intersectionality of homelessness and domestic violence, Coast Shelter offers specialised support tailored to survivors, including safe accommodation, counselling, legal assistance, and community outreach programs. Beyond direct assistance, the organisation collaborates with local stakeholders to raise awareness, advocate for policy changes, and develop sustainable solutions.

Coast Shelter’s impactful work is sustained by the dedication of volunteers and is well funded by Government and the generosity of other donors. Through collective effort, it strives to create a more inclusive and compassionate society, making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by homelessness and domestic violence.
