  • Leverage your governance experience for social outcomes
  • Represent a strong brand and voice in the mental health sector
  • Join an engaged, committed Board at a pivotal time

The organisation

Butterfly Foundation is the leading national voice representing people living with eating disorders and body image issues, and for the families, friends and communities who support them. Left unaddressed, the medical, psychological, physical, and social consequences can be long term and for many life-threatening. Butterfly changes lives by providing innovative, evidence-based services (including the Butterfly National Helpline and Australia’s first residential treatment facility Wandi Nerida), delivering prevention, early intervention and treatment programs as well as advocating for the needs of our community.

Using its strong social media presence to raise awareness, Butterfly seeks to reduce stigma and increase help-seeking in relation to eating disorders and negative body image. The Butterfly group includes Wandi Nerida, a licensed private hospital on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland which provides intensive 24/7 residential care, and also coordinates the National Eating Disorders Collaboration (NEDC) for the Commonwealth Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

The role

Butterfly Foundation is seeking 3 additional capable, committed, and experienced Non-Executive Directors to complement their Board to serve on the Butterfly Group Board across the Butterfly Foundation and Wandi Nerida.

These Directors will bring their skills, expertise and networks from either public health, the education system and / or digital technology.

In addition, you will have governance experience, an understanding of the social purpose sector, be a respected and capable leader and have a genuine commitment to the vision and mission of Butterfly.
