The organisation

The Federation of Parents and Citizens Associations of New South Wales, (known as P&C Federation NSW), serves as the peak advisory body representing the voice of public school parents and carers across the state. Since its inception in 1922 and official incorporation in 1976 through an Act of the NSW Parliament, it has been a cornerstone of the educational landscape and today represents 1850 P&C Associations and 800,000 children.

Committed to championing a free and inclusive public education system, irrespective of cultural, gender, academic, or socio-economic differences, the P&C Federation NSW advocates for student empowerment and parental involvement in the educational process. Collaborating closely with the Department of Education and various stakeholders, the P&C Federation amplifies parents’ voices through its and delegates, while also offering essential services such as public liability insurance and resources to P&C Associations across NSW public schools.

Over the past two years, under the guidance of the outgoing CEO, the organisation has undergone significant revitalisation, particularly in reinvigorating its advocacy role. This effort has served to strengthen the P&C Federation NSW’s position as a key stakeholder in public education discussions.

The role

Leveraging off a positive chapter of structure and growth, the P&C Federation NSW, supported by a strong volunteer Board, is in search of an influential, strategically-minded CEO to shape the organisation’s future and lead the organisation through its next chapter.  The CEO should be a seasoned senior executive, highly proficient in managing stakeholder relations, government engagement, advocacy, and policy influence, preferably in the public education environment or another member-based advocacy organisation.  Curious, with an ability to keep abreast of issues within the public education space, they will be a confident, highly skilled communicator adept at engaging with members, government, the media, and other players within the sector.

A track record of commerciality within a for-purpose context ideally with experience in grants management and funding programmes, financial management and P&L reporting expertise is also important for this role.

Demonstrated ability to inspire and empower teams, coupled with a deep to the values of the P&C Federation NSW, is essential. Tertiary qualifications in Business or related fields are valued.
