The organisation

Sir David Martin Foundation is a charity and family foundation dedicated to helping young people in crisis. Since it was established in 1990, the Foundation has raised over $75M funding best-practice programs for the treatment for youth dealing with drug and alcohol addiction.

Sir David Martin Foundation funds programs to support young people suffering from problems such as substance addiction, homelessness, mental illness, disengagement from society, abuse, unemployment and family breakdown. These programs, in particular the award-winning residential rehabilitation facility Triple Care Farm (managed by their service partner, Mission Australia), provide treatment and support for these issues, as well as assisting young people in returning to education and training to find pathways to employment and a healthy, productive life.

Sir David Martin Foundation is run by a small team of committed staff and volunteers.

The role

The organisation is now seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next chapter. Working closely with the Board of Directors, this role will lead the delivery of the important purpose and mission of the Sir David Martin Foundation.

The Foundation are looking for an inspiring leader who has a proven track record of sustainable, successful fundraising across the high-net-worth community, corporates, existing donors, partners and government. In particular, an executive who can develop and implement strategic and operational plans, lead and manage a team, and understand the importance of evaluating programs that deliver impact. Experience across fundraising is critical to this role.

The successful candidate will understand, have contributed to, and operated an effective governance function. They will have been previously involved in working effectively with a broad and diverse range of stakeholders who – in this case – will include the board, senior executives within their service partner (Mission Australia) and new partnerships.

The next leader of this small, but impactful organisation will appreciate the balance required between effective and efficient operations supporting the core fundraising focus. They will, in consultation with the board, execute the Foundations overarching strategy, while ensuring operational excellence across the organisation. Importantly, they will be someone who is passionate about improving the lives of young people, aligned to the Foundation’s values, and be able to represent the Sir David Martin Foundation.

The successful candidate will require a working with children check, a national police check and a current driver’s licence.
