The organisation

Social Ventures Australia (SVA) is an innovative social impact organisation that exists to solve Australia’s most challenging social issues across Australia.

With a rich history of innovation and deep sector expertise, SVA partners with communities and institutions to create social impact at scale. The team think differently, helping to redesign systems by learning about what works in communities, and working closely with partners to take real action and achieve positive social change.

The role

Reporting directly to the Chair of the SVA Board, you will provide strategic leadership, ensuring SVA remains at the forefront of social innovation. Your role will involve:

  • Driving Strategic Vision: Lead the implementation of SVA’s vision and strategy, evolving operating models to meet changing needs.
  • Influencing and Advocacy: Be the senior spokesperson for SVA, representing across sectors, including government, corporates, and First Nations communities.
  • Partnership and Fundraising: Strengthen and diversify SVA’s funding base, leading strategic partnerships that amplify impact.
  • Culture and Leadership: Cultivate an environment of continuous learning, operational excellence, and cultural safety, championing SVA’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The new CEO will be an experienced executive with a strong track record in leadership, strategy, and innovation within the social impact sector. You bring:

  • Proven Leadership: Executive experience across strategy development, management, and fundraising in complex environments.
  • Deep Commitment to Social Impact: A passion for addressing society’s most pressing challenges, with a focus on disadvantaged communities.
  • Networks and influence: Across government, commercial and the social sector with an ability to inspire and influence.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Skilled in building and leading multidisciplinary teams, empowering others, and fostering partnerships.
  • Cultural Awareness: Experience working in cross-cultural environments, with a commitment to First Nations communities.
