The organisation
The Life You Can Save is a pioneering global social purpose organisation dedicated to alleviating poverty and transforming the lives of those in need. Co-founded by the influential philosopher Peter Singer, the organisation operates on the principle that everyone, regardless of their financial status, can significantly impact global poverty. Through its focus on effective altruism, The Life You Can Save encourages individuals to donate to rigorously evaluated charities that demonstrate high cost-effectiveness and impact. Since its inception, the organisation has introduced transformative ideas from Singer’s book “The Life You Can Save”, to a broad audience, raising over $100million to support high-impact programs addressing various dimensions of poverty.
The Life You Can Save simplifies the process of high-impact giving by conducting thorough research to identify for-purpose organisations with the most effective poverty alleviation programs. By providing a curated list of recommended charities, the organisation ensures that donors’ contributions yield the maximum possible positive effect. The Life You Can Save fosters a community of global citizens committed to transformational philanthropy, advocating for a culture of strategic, thoughtful giving.
The role
As the Head of Development, Australia you play a crucial role in advancing The Life You Can Save’s mission to alleviate global poverty by leading the fundraising efforts across the country. The position calls for a highly capable and hands on fundraiser with a proven track record in major gifts and donor relations. You will be responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships with high-net-worth donors, inspiring them to make transformational investments in support of our mission. Collaborating closely with the Co-CEOs and global development leaders, you will develop and implement strategies to achieve both annual and long-term fundraising goals, ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organisation’s impactful programs.
You will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors, who have both the desire and the capacity to give. Your responsibilities will include designing and executing effective solicitation strategies, providing exceptional stewardship to major donors, and maintaining accurate donor records. Additionally, you will plan and execute special events to engage and inspire donors, and collaborate with the Board of Directors on fundraising strategy.
