The organisation

Impact Investing Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to accelerating the growth of impact investing in Australia and participating in international efforts to grow the market globally.  Since its establishment in 2014 Impact Investing Australia has developed market infrastructure, grown market participation and influenced government policy – critical to accelerating the growth of impact investing. The organisation is at a critical stage in its evolution as it grows to become the peak body for impact investing in Australia.

The role

Working with an engaged Board, the CEO will drive the next phase of growth for IIA with a focus on:

  • The development and implementation of a new strategic plan to ensure market maturation and growth.
  • Advocacy through engagement with critical stakeholders including (but not limited to) government at the highest level, institutional investment firms, industry bodies, superannuation funds and leaders in the impact investing space more broadly.
  • Financial strength and sustainability through the engagement of philanthropic foundations and other funders (fundraising).
  • Working with the newly formed board to leverage networks and opportunities.

IIA is a small, but growing organisations whose next CEO will be both capable and comfortable operating in a very hands-on environment. Whilst responsible for strategy, advocacy and finance, you will also be prepared to roll your sleeves up to get the job done.

Experience, knowledge & skills

The ideal candidate is a seasoned policy, finance or investment leader with extensive experience across the lifecycle of an investment deal including designing, fundraising, and launching new funds and financial products.  Candidates should have a strong and genuine commitment to impact and bring an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to the role, able to envision new products and services, while advocating and implementing strategies to grow and advance IIA’s capabilities.
