The organisation
MS Plus is the go-to provider of information, advice and support for people living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions. At its core, the organisation exists to help its clients (and their carers) to live well; providing services, support and referral pathways to help achieve the best long-term options and life outcomes; and to provide vital funds to support research into a cure. Rebranded as MS Plus in 2021, the organisation has more than 60 years history of improving the lives of people affected by MS, funding research into the causes and treatments of MS with a cure always at the forefront.
Specifically, MS Plus offers support services including access to specialised health professionals, assistance navigating the complexity of NDIS, as well as long and short-term accommodation services for those suffering from MS and other neurological conditions. As part of their current strategic plan, MS Plus is undertaking exciting projects – these include capital works in NSW, expansion of their Health and Wellbeing Hubs, and providing services to people over 65 years as an approved Aged Care provider.
The role
The Board of MS Plus is seeking to appoint one new Canberra based Non-Executive Director in 2024, as one of their current Directors retires. The new Director will bring executive level experience in either disability services (with strong NDIS knowledge), or health policy (ie. policy development). Ideally, this new Non-Executive Director will be AICD qualified, values aligned and have a genuine commitment to MS Plus and its purpose, behave in a way that is values-aligned and be able to make the necessary time commitment required.
This new Director will reside within ACT/Canberra.
