Inspire the future of food and ageing as Chair of the Maggie Beer Foundation.
- Guide a purpose-driven organisation through its next chapter
- Lead with warmth, wisdom, and governance acumen
- Champion joy, dignity, and flavour in later life
The organisation
The Maggie Beer Foundation (MBF) is dedicated to transforming the food experience for older Australians, wherever they live. Founded by Maggie Beer AO, the Foundation has changed national conversations around food as we age—focusing not just on nutrition, but on the joy, dignity, and sensory pleasure that come from sharing good food.
Through government-funded training programs, professional development for aged care cooks and chefs, and advocacy, the Foundation influences policy, practice, and public awareness. With staff and partners across Australia, the Foundation connects research, education, and evidence with heart—uplifting the quality of life for older people through flavour and belonging.
The role
As Chair, you will lead a skilled and values-driven Board and partner closely with the CEO to guide the Maggie Beer Foundation through its next phase of growth and transition—from a founder-led organisation to a sustainable, independent national charity.
This is a hands-on governance role requiring both presence and capacity. You will bring prior experience as a Chair, strong strategic and governance capability, and the maturity to navigate the intersection of legacy, leadership, and impact.
You will bring your networks and influence to extend the Foundation’s reach as the organisation continues to build relationships across government, philanthropy, and industry to support its continued sustainability and profile. An understanding of, or experience in, philanthropy or partnership development is essential.
A commitment to the Foundation’s work and values is imperative. The Chair will play a visible role in representing the Foundation publicly and ensuring its mission and voice continue to inspire long into the future.
