Shape the future of social and affordable housing as CEO of Australia’s largest not-for-profit community housing provider
- Lead a complex, values-led organisation of national significance
- Build capability for the next era of growth and maturity
- Balance purpose, commercial performance and strategic influence
The organisation
Community Housing Limited is one of Australia’s largest and most respected not-for-profit community housing providers, with more than 35 years’ experience delivering safe, secure and affordable housing.
With a significant national portfolio, international reach and deep partnerships across government, investors, developers and communities, CHL plays an important role in addressing housing need and strengthening communities.
As a registered Community Housing Provider and ACNC-regulated charity, CHL combines commercial discipline with a deep commitment to social justice, delivering housing outcomes that create lasting community impact.
CHL is now preparing for its next strategic chapter. With significant organisational scale, a strong reputation and a new strategic planning cycle ahead, the Board is seeking an outstanding Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its future.
The role
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer will provide strategic, operational and cultural leadership across a complex, values-led organisation of national significance.
This is a defining leadership opportunity for an experienced CEO or senior enterprise executive to work with the Board and executive team to shape CHL’s future strategy, strengthen organisational capability, consolidate growth and ensure the organisation is positioned for sustainable impact.
The CEO will lead and develop the executive team, bringing focus to organisational performance, systems, culture, accountability and execution. They will balance purpose and performance, ensuring CHL continues to deliver high-quality, tenant-centred housing services while maintaining strong governance, financial sustainability, risk management and regulatory compliance.
The role also requires a visible and influential external leader who can build trusted relationships with governments, regulators, investors, financiers, sector partners and communities, and influence with credibility across a changing housing, funding and policy environment.
The successful candidate will be a leader of leaders. They will bring clarity, commercial discipline and sound judgement to complexity, with the maturity to strengthen executive capability, build trust with the Board, and create the confidence, accountability and momentum required for CHL’s next chapter.
Direct experience in community, social or affordable housing will be highly regarded. More broadly, the Board is seeking a leader who understands the relationship between housing outcomes, assets, government partnerships, service delivery, human rights, community impact and financial sustainability.
The search is being conducted nationally and internationally.
