  • Oversee impactful programs and advocacy efforts with local and global partners

The organisation

ChildFund Australia (CFA) is an independent international organisation working to reduce poverty and promote the rights and wellbeing of children and young people across the Asia-Pacific. With programs in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam, ChildFund partners with local organisations to deliver impactful initiatives in health, education, and child protection. As a member of the global ChildFund Alliance, ChildFund Australia helps to support children in over 70 countries. ChildFund is DFAT and ACFID accredited and is the official social impact partner of World Rugby.

ChildFund operates in the international development sector, which faces significant strategic challenges including declining revenue and a changing strategic landscape over the next few years. ChildFund Australia delivers both ongoing core programs and innovative global initiatives that will need to evolve in this dynamic environment.

The role

This is a unique opportunity for a bold, strategic leader to guide ChildFund Australia into its next phase of growth and impact. The incoming CEO will work closely with a committed Board and experienced executive team to implement a refreshed strategy, re-establish financial stability through revenue innovation, and deepen the organisation’s influence across the region and globally.

We welcome candidates from diverse professional backgrounds—including leadership roles in international development organisations covering multiple geographies, international corporate marketing, and sport-for-development—who bring strong ethical alignment and a passion for social impact. Experience in evolving and creating new business models while maintaining delivery of core programs will be highly valued.

Key priorities include:

  • Driving commercial innovation to diversify revenue and ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Strengthening strategic partnerships, including high-profile collaborations like World Rugby.
  • Leading through change with clarity, empathy, and purpose.
  • Overseeing impactful programs and advocacy efforts, ensuring alignment with ChildFund’s mission.
  • Fostering a high-performing, values-led culture during a period of transition and renewal.

This role requires a blend of strategic foresight, operational leadership, and commercial acumen. The successful candidate will have an appreciation for international development or humanitarian aid, experience with commercial relationship building, and the ability to balance operational leadership with long-term vision. Whether your background is in international development, sport, corporate strategy, or social enterprise and if you’re ready to lead with purpose and deliver measurable impact, we’d love to hear from you.
