The organisation
Australian Schools Plus is a national not-for-profit that supports children facing disadvantage to thrive through school and beyond. Their mission is to empower young people facing barriers to success by enabling schools to access philanthropic support, capability building, and innovative partnerships. Since inception, they have partnered with over 1800 schools, fostering improved learning outcomes and opportunities for over 550,000 students across the country.
Now entering its second decade, the organisation has launched an ambitious new strategy focused on systems-level impact and deeper collaboration with government, school leaders, philanthropy and sector decision-makers. With a clear sense of purpose and a committed team, Schools Plus is building bold momentum for large-scale, long-term change.
The role
Reporting to the CEO and forming part of a collegiate Executive Team, the Director of Operations will embed strong foundations to support growth and deliver impact at scale. With responsibility for Finance, HR, Compliance, IT, Risk and Systems, this role is key to operationalising strategy and shaping a collaborative, high-performing culture.
As a culture champion, you’ll help galvanise and inspire a team that has undergone significant change. You’ll bring emotional intelligence, clear communication and a steady hand to support staff through transition and embed positive, values-aligned ways of working.
You will also bring strong commercial and HR experience, ideally gained within the for-purpose sector or a similarly lean, mission-led organisation. With a small operations team reporting to you, you’ll coach, implement and improve — helping the organisation thrive through strong systems, practical leadership and shared purpose.
The successful candidate doesn’t need to have an education background but will care deeply about giving all Australian children the opportunity to thrive.
