The organisation

MS Plus is the go-to provider of information, advice and support for people living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions. At its core, the organisation exists to help its clients (and their carers) to live well; providing services, support and referral pathways to help achieve the best long-term options and life outcomes; and to provide vital funds to support research into a cure. MS Plus is also an Approved Aged Care Provider, through its acquisition of Nursing Port Stephens (now MS Plus Healthy Ageing) to better support people over 65 years.

Rebranded as MS Plus in 2021, the organisation has 70 years of history of improving the lives of people affected by MS, funding research into the causes and treatments of MS with a cure always at the forefront.

Specifically, MS Plus offers support services including access to specialised health professionals, assistance navigating the complexity of NDIS, as well as long and short-term accommodation services for those living with MS and other neurological conditions.

The Board has recently released Strategic Directions 2025 – 2027, strategy focused on three pillars:

  1. Leveraging Foundations
    • Strengthening financial sustainability.
    • Transforming the way we work, embracing digital and improving systems.
    • Building a culture of agility and continuous improvement.
  2. Increasing Impact
    • Ensuring our services are integrated, evidence-informed and measurable.
    • Delivering what truly makes a difference in people’s lives.
    • Evolving our service mix to meet both MS and broader neuro needs. It really is time for us to further commit to that broader neuro population.
  3. Activating Community
    • Expanding networks of clients, partners, supporters and philanthropists.
    • Amplifying our reach and our impact so more people benefit from our expertise and care.
    • Celebrating and valuing the contributions of those who support us, often quietly and selflessly.

The role

The Board of MS Plus is seeking to appoint two new Non-Executive Directors in early 2026, as current board directors retire.

One of these new Directors will bring senior-level experience in IT, with experience in guiding digital transformation, data governance and systems modernisation at a strategic level. The other new Director will bring executive-level experience in law offering insight into legal risk and compliance.

Ideally, these new Non-Executive Directors will be AICD qualified, behave in a way that is values aligned and have a genuine commitment to MS Plus and its purpose. Also importantly, they will be able to make the necessary time commitment required.

The new Directors will reside within areas that MS Plus operate – Tasmania, Victoria, NSW or ACT, with a particular preference for one of these new directors to come from Tasmania.

These are voluntary roles.
