The organisation
The Different Collective Ltd is a long-established, non-denominational Christian charity with a strong history of caring for Australian workers. Operating as Vocara (formerly Reventure), the organisation anticipates a period of strategic development and opportunity that will require strengthened governance and professionally grounded stewardship in service of its mission.
As the nature of work continues to evolve, shaped by changing expectations and experiences of individuals and organisations, alongside accelerating digital and technological change – the organisation is responding by investigating more intentionally, a response to contributing to contemporary working life.
Vocara aims to further strengthen support for individuals and organisations through practical and scalable approaches that reflect the values and integrity of Christian presence in working life, delivered through integrated strategic priorities encompassing formation, research, advocacy, and thought leadership that contribute to purpose, meaning, and values-informed practice.
The opportunity
As a Non-Executive Director, you will work collaboratively with fellow Board members to provide strategic oversight, governance confidence, and future-facing leadership aligned to the organisation’s purpose. You will contribute reflectively and actively to Board deliberations, particularly in navigating the cultural, technological, and generational dynamics shaping modern work, as well as investment stewardship responsibilities, including oversight of investment strategy, ethical investment frameworks, and long-term capital stewardship.
This role requires an active, lived Christian faith that shapes values, discernment and leadership and a strong alignment with Vocara’s mission.
You will bring:
- Insight into contemporary workplaces, including cultural, digital, and generational dynamics
- The ability to balance financial prudence with mission and impact objectives in a faith-based context
- An appreciation of director duties, fiduciary responsibility, and organisational stewardship
- Experience with investment management, funds governance, or capital stewardship
- Capacity to contribute meaningfully to the Finance, Audit, Risk and Investment Management Committee.
- A willingness to continue developing governance capability where experience is still evolving
- Emotional intelligence and relational maturity to engage constructively at Board level
- The ability to contribute to a healthy, collaborative Board culture through respectful challenge and shared learning
