The organisation

Sydney East Community College (SECC), formerly known as City East Community College, is a not-for-profit adult and community education provider delivering vocational training and social inclusion programs. SECC partners with community organisations, councils, and schools to provide accredited courses that support disadvantaged groups, including micro-credential programs such as RSA, White Card, aged care and safe food handling certifications. The College also runs a volunteer based mentoring program to assist skilled migrants and refugees in securing employment in their professions.

Currently undergoing a revitalisation after a period of refocussing on its core purpose, SECC is committed to continuing to evolve its services to better serve the community. It is in the process of evolving its governance to an efficient fit-for-purpose structure and framework, and is developing a new website.

The role

SECC is seeking a dedicated and experienced Non-Executive Director (NED) to join its Board. This new NED will have strong governance experience and the capacity to support SECC’s strategic direction. A leadership background in adult vocational education, IT, or Law is highly desirable, along with expertise in areas such as finance, not for profit organisations, and working with CALD students. As SECC continues to evolve and expand its impact, the Board is looking for a proactive leader who can help strengthen its governance and ensure the College remains a vital resource for the community.

This is a hands-on governance opportunity suited to individuals who are comfortable contributing their expertise in a setting where systems and structures are still developing. Your leadership will help shape a more contemporary and effective Board and governance framework.
