- Bring strategic governance expertise to a nationally significant charity
- Steward HammondCare’s Christian Mission, values and charitable purpose
- Contribute expertise in technology, major projects or clinical governance
The organisation
For more than 90 years, HammondCare has improved quality of life for people in need. An independent Christian charity, HammondCare provides expert aged care, home care, dementia care, palliative care and hospital services to people of all faiths and none. Today, it cares for more than 44,000 people across 91 locations, supported by almost 6,000 team members and 850 volunteers.
With FY25 revenue of $620 million and a $35.5 million social dividend, HammondCare combines national scale with deep specialist expertise in complex care, research and evidence-based practice. Its ambition is to set the global standard for relationship-based care and extend care to people with complex needs whom others cannot or will not support.
The role
HammondCare is seeking Non-Executive Directors to contribute to the stewardship, governance and strategic leadership of the organisation at a time of significant sector reform, growth and innovation. Directors will help safeguard HammondCare’s Christian Mission and charitable purpose while providing independent judgement across strategy, quality and safety, financial stewardship, risk and organisational performance.
The Board is particularly seeking candidates with strong expertise in one or more of:
Technology & data capability: Strong technology and data capability, particularly in AI-enabled initiatives, digital transformation and reducing manual processes
Major projects & property experience: Experience overseeing major projects, property or infrastructure development, relevant to HammondCare’s significant development program
Clinical governance & aged care expertise: Clinical governance and aged care expertise, strengthening the Board’s oversight of quality, safety and care outcomes.
In addition:
Cultural and background diversity: Broadening the Board’s diversity of thought and lived experience; open to practising Christians across denominations.
A living and demonstrable Christian faith is essential to ensure that in word and deed HammondCare remains faithful to its Mission, its core charitable purpose and its Christian identity.
Directors must be a communicant or full member of a Christian church and be, or become, a member of HammondCare. The role is voluntary, with approximately six scheduled Board meetings each year, committee participation and engagement in strategy, key events and HammondCare site visits.
