The organisation

MS Plus is the go-to provider of information, advice and support for people living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions. At its core, the organisation exists to help its clients (and their carers) to live well; providing services, support and referral pathways to help achieve the best long-term options and life outcomes; and to provide vital funds to support research into a cure. MS Plus is an Approved Aged Care Provider, through its acquisition of Nursing Port Stephens (now MS Plus Healthy Ageing) to better support people over 65 years.

Rebranded as MS Plus in 2021, the organisation has more than 60 years history of improving the lives of people affected by MS, funding research into the causes and treatments of MS with a cure always at the forefront.

Specifically, MS Plus offers support services including access to specialised health professionals, assistance navigating the complexity of NDIS, as well as long and short-term accommodation services for those living with MS and other neurological conditions. As part of their current strategic plan, MS Plus is undertaking exciting projects – this includes the recent opening of a new Wellbeing Centre at Lidcombe in Sydney, further expansion of their Health and Wellbeing Hubs, and being an approved Aged Care provider.

The role

The Board of MS Plus is seeking to appoint two new Non-Executive Directors in 2025, as current board directors retire. These new Directors will bring executive level experience in aged care, finance, not-for-profit management, or People and Culture. Candidates who bring lived experience of MS would be highly valued.

Ideally, these new Non-Executive Directors will be AICD qualified, behave in a way that aligns with the MS Plus values and have a genuine commitment to MS Plus and its purpose. Also importantly, they will be able to make the necessary time commitment required.

The new Directors will reside within areas that MS Plus operate – Tasmania, Victoria, NSW or ACT.
