It’s not every day you get to work with an organisation that demonstrates its commitment to its long-term social impact from the outset – or is a new zoo! This year sees the opening of the Sydney Zoo, Sydney’s first major zoo in over 100 years, which will coincide with the establishment of the Sydney Zoo Foundation, to provide opportunities for community engagement and involvement in animal and environmental conservation.
The Foundation will be focussed on education programs that will positively impact preservation and conservation practices to benefit generations to come. They are also committed to supporting an inclusive ecology at the Sydney Zoo, which brings together animals, plants, culture, people and projects that demonstrate the values of the Zoo and the Foundation.
Rachael McLennan, CEO of People for Purpose, stated “We are proud to be working with the Sydney Zoo on the appointment of Non-Executive Directors to the Sydney Zoo Foundation. We are working through a process to with the Foundation’s Chairman to find the right people, demonstrating a desire to start and hence continue with good governance for the board. The new NEDs will be supporting an outstanding for purpose organisation which aspires to be a global leader in connecting people to opportunities that involve improving wildlife preservation, environmental conservation, scientific research and community education.”
