About
Dementia Australia was founded 40 years ago by carers – and now it’s the leading national organisation for people affected by dementia in Australia.
With a mission to provide trusted information, education and support services, Dementia Australia empowers 400,000 Australians living with dementia and the 1.5 million people involved in their care. The organisation strives for positive change through advocacy, storytelling and support for vital research.
Dementia has now become the second-leading cause of death in Australia, and there’s an urgent need for support and understanding.
By actively involving people living with dementia – as well as their families and carers – in their activities and decision-making process, Dementia Australia represents the diverse range of dementia experiences across the country.
Outcome
In all, we helped Dementia Australia engage 5 Non-Executive Directors over 2 years. These experts have been instrumental in achieving big wins quickly. Here are just a few:
- The National Dementia Helpline has expanded its coverage to provide 24-hour support.
- The new BrainTrack mobile app has simplified brain health monitoring and support access. This earned Dementia Australia the Community/Non-Profit category award at the ACT iAwards.
- Several new services have been introduced to support people living with dementia and their families.
